yes all subarus are all wheel drives, this has been subaru s safety feature from day one, these are tough durable little vehicles and will do a good job and take you anywhere you want to go, dirt, sand mud or snow subaru is the way to go. If taking a class of some kind will lower your insurance? (ask the insurance company) maybe that will work I dont know good luck those are good tough cars that run and run and run, a lot like the energizer bunny.
